Yesterday was Guru Purnima, the day in Indian tradition where Gurus, teachers, those who bring us from darkness to light, are acknowledged and honored. Today is the birth date of Yoga Hero Sri K Pattabhi Jois, who was born in 1915, which would make him 95 years old. Jois left his earthly body in May of last year, but we’ll never forget his teachings and words on Ashtanga Yoga, and the most memorable and necessary reminder to practice, practice, practice.
“Ashtanga yoga is 99 percent practice, one percent theory.”
“practice, practice, practice. … Then all is coming.”
Happy Birthday Guruji! We hope you’re practicing on some birthday cake wherever you are.
