Now who says we yogis can’t enjoy a little liquid spirits every now and then. Baby it’s cold out outside so here are some holiday cocktail ideas to warm your bellies!

The Original YogaDork Holiday Yogini Martini™

Ingredients for 1 serving:
  • 2 cups crushed ice
  • 4 ounces vanilla chai concentrate, such as Oregon Chai. Or brew your own for reduced sugar version.
  • 1 ounce heavy cream/soymilk/silknog
  • 1 1/2 ounces spiced rum, such as Captain Morgan

Directions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Add the chai, cream and rum.
  3. Cover and shake vigorously until combined and chilled, about 30 seconds.
  4. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Garnish with powdered cinnamon or stick and brown sugar.

Don’t like rum? Try vanilla vodka instead. This can also be served deliciously hot with a little dollop of whipped cream. Yummm.

Gingerbread Martini…

OK now we’re getting fancy. Try making your own ginger syrup if you’ve got the time, or buy store-bought.

Ginger Syrup Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 (2-inch) piece fresh ginger, coarsely chopped
  • 2 sticks of cinnamon
  • 3 whole cloves

Directions:

  1. Simmer water, sugar, ginger, cloves and cinnamon stirring occasionally, until reduced to about 3/4 cup, about 15 minutes.
  2. Pour hot syrup through a fine sieve and chill.
  3. Let stand 20 minutes until using, so all sediment has settled to the bottom.

Servings: Approximately 3/4 cup.

Martini Ingredients:

  • ice
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1/2 to 1 ounce gingerbread syrup

Directions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Add the vodka and gingerbread syrup.
  3. Cover and shake vigorously until combined and chilled, about 30 seconds.
  4. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
