OK Everybody Make Fun of the Hippie Dippy “E-I-E-I- Yoga” Farmer [video]

UPDATE: Who is “Yogi Oki Doki”? Read our updated post

“It’s time for e-i-e-i-yoga now!”

Oh. My. Goodness. It’s the Rasta Rooster! Now that this yoga thing has blown up to “mainstay” proportions the prowlers [Buzzfeed et al] have gone a diggin’ for ridiculous yoga videos for quips and giggles, and it seems to be easy pickin’s. This video is freakin creepy! BUT, it’s a childrens show, and to be fair, just about every single kids show we used to watch growing up, and have since viewed as adults, has been incredibly absurd and weird.

Kids probably LOVE this. And others love to make fun of hippie dippy yogis! See for yourself…

This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve got to post this link over on my Yoga Journal blog!

Thanks,

This is very disturbing and creepy on so many levels. I’d like to meet the parents that allowed their kids to participate in this…whatever you want to call it.

Actually he does pretty good Tittibhasana and able to do full lotus at his age, but yes creepy. But there’s an idea for you Linda, “Linda’s Barnyard Yoga”, where the animals are complete Asanas! :)

I was thinking along the lines of having a show where you teach the a-hole de jour (ie politicians, celebs, those people on Fox News, Rush) and yoga the stupid out of them. I think it would be hit!

I LOVE that idea! sorta along the lines of the cartoon you made for me (the exploding head!) uh, but I’ll need an agent like from that yoga talent agency!

As co-creator and producer of EiEi Yoga, and proud wife of Yogi Oki Doki (you may call me Mrs. Oki Doki) I would like to ask that someobody re-print Richard Rosen’s stellar Yoga Journal review of this video (1997) in which he unequivocally gave it “4 hooves up!”. Yogi and Rasta the Rooster appeared on several national TV magazines, and the science and medical writer for the New York Times said “Yogi Oki Doki is a hero in my house.”

Max Thomas (a/k/a Yogi Oki Doki) is one of California’s most beloved and respected yoga teachers. He was the director of the Center for Yoga in L.A. for four years in the early `80s before yoga became hip and ubiquitous. He has taught teacher training courses at the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, and in his own studios in L.A., Topanga and currently in Yucca Valley, CA. He has worked gratis for HIV patients in West L.A., and for schizophrenic teenagers at UCLA Medical Center. He was one of the first yoga teachers to acknowledge that if children were taught yoga we would be living in a much saner world.

Now, on a badly edited YouTube clip that has received close to a quarter of a million hits and 1,100 comments in 6 days (“Weird Hippie Yoga Farmers”) Max has been derided in every way imaginable, called “creepy” and “a pedophile.” One viewer referred to one of the beautiful children he was teaching as “that little nigger.” I know that the mental capacity of most of these people makes Fox News viewers seems like Rhodes Scholars, but it would be nice to see a little support from the yoga community for a fellow teacher, one who has dedicated the last 35 years of his life to bringing yoga to the world.

Perhaps you can go to the “everything is terrible site” and throw in a positive comment.

And yes, kids LOVE this video.

Thanks for filing a DMCA complaint and getting everythingisterrible’s youtube site shut down, Robin.

I think the majority meant no disrepect, but your “the mental capacity of most of these people makes Fox News viewers seems like Rhodes Scholars” showed that you have the close-mindedness of a holocaust denier. Way to go on shutting down the video on youtube. Let me guess… you played the part of the cow?

Robin,

Because I wasn’t a kid, nor did I have kids, during the time of your husband’s show, I had never seen it. I know you see this “badly” edited video as something terrible, I could see that it was something positive and interesting to be explored, regardless of how strange it might seem to someone from outside the world of yoga.

Ever heard the expression that some publicity is better than no publicity? It really applies here. I put a link to the Youtube video on my Facebook page. And several dozen people were introduced to it before it was taken down, out of several hundred. And most of them have small children; almost all are crunchy; and you just made darned sure that I *can’t* introduce them to the video.

Forget about the comments of the general public. Let everythingisterrible put the video back. Let the video be viral, and enjoy the sales of your DVDs. The best, and cheapest, form of marketing anymore is viral, social internet users.

Agreed, besides about the semi-insulting last part with the cow comment. But, really. Seriously.

Funny how Robin gets all pissed off about people making disparaging remarks about her creepy, LA fag husband, and in the same breath takes a shot at all Fox viewers.

I hope all you Libtard freaks enjoy your day in the sun because your racist Commie hero is going to get his lunch eaten in 2012.

PS

A “review” from the NY Times has less credibility than the National Enquirer.

Showing off your illuminated politics by bashing all viewers of Fox News? That’s true enlightenment thinking, eh?
