Yoga Marathoner Beats World Record! 32-Hr Yogathon for AIDS

Meet Yasmin F. Gow.  She just completed what could be a World Record for the longest yoga marathon! (pending Guinness approval). A serial marathon-er this one, before taking on the 32-hour non-stop yogathon she had already been well on her way through 108 sun salutations, for 108 consecutive days.

Yas explained the mission on her blog:

‘To complete this journey, on August 2 and 3, I am exploring what it would be like to do a prolonged practice and in doing so, have decided to challenge the Guinness World Record for longest yoga marathon, which is 29 hours and 4 minutes. This record has never been attempted by woman nor by a Canadian. My goal is 32 hours.”

Is that it? pfft. Aw, just kidding! Way to go! The reason for so many sun salutes and media hub bub? Yas is raising money for her pal Stephen Lewis’ foundation to “raise funds for grassroots organizations turning the tides of AIDS”.

“I hope this inspires people to set their own goals and dream big,” says Yasmin.

In case you’re curious, (we were!) here’s the schedule she followed for the record:
